Thordon Non-metallic BearingsAUSTRALIS Marine & Industrial Pty Ltd is an authorized stocking dealer for the full range of Thordon Elastomeric and Thermoplastic Bearings. We stock raw materials in various OD / ID combinations and lengths up to 1000mm.
Thordon Bearings are manufactured from thermo setting resins and tough synthetic polymer alloys which typically offer superior performance compared with bronze, babbit, nylon, tfe phenolics, lignum vitae & uhmwp. Thordon materials also perform well in applications when exposed or submerged in water. Thordon materials have a high resistance to abrasive and dirty environments and are very environmentally friendly, due to no oil or grease lubrication required in most applications. Thordon materials come colour keyed to allow easy dissemination and identification.
AUSTRALIS Marine & Industrial Pty Ltd can supply the Thordon material in the raw state or can provide complete machining and fitting of the bearing into a relative housing supplied by the client or housing machined up by AUSTRALIS Marine & Industrial Pty Ltd.
For every application of Thordon material, AUSTRALIS Marine & Industrial Pty Ltd provides an Application data sheet to give the fitting tolerances. Our calculations provided are based on but not limited to - min/max housing diameter, load on the bearing, housing length, shaft speed, min/max operating temperature and type of lubrication, eg. water or dry
Thordon Non-metallic Bearing Material Types
Thordon "xl" - low coefficient of friction. High resistance to shock loading and vibration.
Thordon "sxl" - low coefficient of friction. High resistance to shock loading and vibration.
Thordon "hpsxl"- low coefficient of friction. Modest abrasion resistance. High resistance to shock loading and vibration.
Thordon composite - low coefficient of friction and outstanding abrasive resistance in abrasive environments.
Thordon compac – low coefficient of friction. Ideal for water lubricated propeller shaft bearings.
Thordon Thorplas – low coefficient of friction and very low wear in non-abrasive environments.
